Ron Hamm is best known for his reputation as a 3rd generation carver.
His Grandfather began carving as early as 1889. Ron's father followed in the
footsteps and started carving in 1937, and in 1972, Ron carried on
the legacy of the family by continuing to carve spearing decoys.
To date, Ron has carved over 400 various decoys.


Ron was born in the northern Minnesota town of Hibbing, raised in Detroit Lakes.
Since 1974, has made his home, with his wife, in Frazee, MN.

The picture above displays examples from the three generations of carving.

Ron is an active member of the NFDA.
He has previously been featured on the NFDA website under "the filming" which shows highlights from Unparalleled Productions visit to the northern area of Minnesota. During their visit they spent time gathering  information on Ron and other members of the NFDA for a documentary to be released at a later date.

Ron speared his largest northern, a 29 pounder, on Long Lost Lake near
Bad Medicine, MN. This lake is known for the testing of Heddon Lures.
