 NFDA AWARDS BANQUET

The NFDA Awards Banquet will be held at The Cactus, on Ft Thunder Road, south side of freeway. The banquet is Saturday evening, April  5 th, 2014 (218-346-2554)

 

 This banquet is open to the public, collectors, carvers, dealers, and press, with advance ticket purchase of 35.00. Ticket price includes a 1 year membership in the National Fish Decoy Association, meal, door prizes, and awards to contestants of all the Perham contests.

 

 The banquet is fun for everyone, including the carvers who have no idea if they were a winner until their name is announced at the award ceremony. If you have not attended the banquet before—you are missing half the show. This is our annual fundraiser event.

JOHN JENSEN NATIONALS – RULES AND REGS FOR 2013 -2014

                                       RULES HAVE BEEN UPDATED

1.      All decoys must be working decoys that swim. Swimming is defined as forward and down movement of the decoy when pressure is released on the line , while the decoy is suspended in the tank.

2.      All decoys/lures are swim tested in 6 ft tanks

3.      Any decoy that does not swim, sink, lists to one side, or swims backwards, or noticeably falls apart in the water will be disqualified and will not be judged.

4.      Service working decoys are judged 80% on swim, 20% on clean craftsmanship.

5.      You can only enter one decoy per class.

6.      Decoy registration fees are 3.00 per entry in any NFDA sanctioned event, capped at $56.00

7.      All decoys in all classes must be made from wood, unless otherwise noted.

8.       No mail in entries allowed at Perham, except International, for classes 1-20. Another person may register your decoys. NFDA accepts mail ins for their classes.

9.      Air brush classes means 98% airbrush, 2 % hand touch up.

10.   Hand painted means 100 % hand painted with a brush or paint pens- no airbrush touch ups.

11.  No bondo, putty, or body filler is allowed to mold any body parts- except teeth.

12.  Filler may be used to cover lead cavity or fin gaps.

13.  If one person carves, and another paints, they must be registered under both names.

14.  Cash Awards for first place are purchase awards.

15.   Juniors are considered anyone 21 and under. 

16.           Decoys must be tagged before registration, which is Friday from 11-2 pm, and Sat. 7-8 am. Late entries not accepted. ALL DECOYS MUST BE REGISTERED AT THE SAME TIME, AND IN ORDER OF CLASSES.

17.  No plastic fins/tails allowed in classes 1 -20 or Juniors

18.  All judges’ decisions are final.

19.  Judges and officials accept no liability for any damage to entries.

20.    If you do not agree with the rules, then do not enter.

21.  We are not responsible for stolen decoys from the contest area, this means the carver or cash sponsor

Important Notes

 

 

Mail in entries.

  Mail in of fish decoy entries will be accepted in 2013/14 for  Park Rapids, Alexandria, and Little Falls from out of state carvers. Mail ins must arrive 1 week prior to the contest and must include enough monies for return postage, entry fees, and insurance.
